- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
